CULTURAL EXCHANGE COUNCIL VISIT TO
Mass MoCA
The three teachers with a snowball are Dutch. They accompanied the Cultural Exchange Council to Mass MoCa.  En route, they were ecstatic about seeing snow since they don't have much in Utrecht.
Students in the Cultural Exchange Council listen thoughtfully as a docent describes the symbolism in the work of Jim Shaw. Afterward a convivial meal was shared at Public Restaurant in North Adams.
Polyglot
Our annual school-wide holiday celebration, Polyglot, falls directly before the winter break on December 18. All students are asked to contribute to the community dinner that we will share during Polyglot. Below is a list of food and task assignments for each grade. Contact Nora Bates Zale with any questions.

COAT DRIVE WARMS THOSE IN NEED
The Academy's Community Service Council has collected over 50 coats to be distributed to those in need. We're grateful to the many members of our school community who contributed. Coats will be delivered to the Community Clothes Closet in Shelburne Falls and Share the Warmth in Ashfield, just in time for the winter season.
MITTEN TREE
The Community Service Council is also collecting mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves to donate to Warm the Children. Please help your student decorate our tree in the library. The tree will be up until the winter break and items will be delivered right after Polyglot. Thank you.
New Position at
The Academy
This week we began advertising for a new position: Director of Development. For the past four years Ms. Tirk has ably overseen both Admissions and Development at The Academy. This dual role was always intended to be temporary and at their October meeting, the Trustees voted to allocate money from the school's endowment to create a separate position in order to move towards our goal of solidifying The Academy's financial position. Once we identify and hire this new team member, Ms. Tirk will orient the person to The Academy's culture of giving and to the supportive nature of our families and alumni. Once this transition has been completed she will oversee all Admissions and Communications for The Academy.
The job posting is live on our website. Please encourage anyone you know who may be interested and qualified to apply.
For Florence Bank Customers
As you know, voting for Florence Bank's Customers' Choice Community Grants is now open.  Some parents have let us know that they will be voting for The Academy.  If you're a customer, please consider doing so as well by clicking here. Thank you for your generosity.
