Letter from our 2025 President

NAM Members,

It is an incredible honor to serve as the 2025 President of the Nashville Academy of Medicine. For 10 years, I have had the privilege of being a member of this organization, where I have witnessed firsthand the dedication and passion of our members in advancing healthcare in Middle Tennessee. I have been honored to serve on the NAM board of directors since 2021, and my experiences with the NAM membership and NAM leadership have reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration, networking, education, and advocacy, some of the same principles that define NAM.

The Nashville Academy of Medicine’s legacy spans over 200 years, with more than 2,300 members who share a commitment to excellence in medicine and community health. This year, we continue our focus on three pillars:
  • Physician Health: Supporting the well-being of our members with resources, networking opportunities, and programs to help navigate the challenges of our profession.
  • Practice Health: Empowering physicians with tools, information, and training to enhance their practices and adapt to a changing healthcare landscape.
  • Community Health: Extending our partnership with the Medical Foundation of Nashville including PROSPER for physician well-being, Public Health initiatives, and Project Access Nashville Specialty Care, ensuring access to care for the underserved in our community.
As NAM members, we have a unique opportunity to influence the future of healthcare in our region. Whether it is through supporting young physicians and physicians in training, engaging in advocacy efforts, or attending one of our many events, your involvement is important and encouraged. I encourage each of you to actively participate, share your perspectives, and invite colleagues to join us in this vital mission.

I look forward to serving alongside you as we work together to strengthen our profession and the community. Thank you for your trust and dedication to NAM’s mission. Let’s make 2025 a year of meaningful growth and collaboration.

Sincerely,

Laura L. Lawson, MD
President, Nashville Academy of Medicine
