A Faithful Fiscal Fact
After 132 years of exposure to wind and weather, the wood support frame for the Christ Church bell was replaced over the summer. The Vestry was able to plan for and execute this project because your annual pledges let them know the full cost of $50,250 could be covered by the operating budget.

Do You Know?
There are accounting and audit rules that govern annual pledging along with Episcopal Diocese of Washington policies. In short, to be counted as an annual pledge, your commitment must be in writing, state that it is an annual pledge for operating expenses, and specify an amount. That is why we ask you to use the online or printed versions of the Pledge Card. An e-mail including this information can also be accepted. Once made, annual pledges can be adjusted.

A Personal Perspective on Stewardship
I first walked through the doors at 31st and O in the summer of 2003, during a time of transition. A capital campaign and renovation had recently concluded, and the sanctuary was restored and beautiful. For years, I didn’t think any financial contribution I could make would be impactful and frankly didn’t believe the yearly Stewardship appeal was aimed at me.
Now, as a member of the Vestry, I spend time each month pouring through our church budget. I see the vast scope of our needs in a time of growth and rising costs. Every pledge makes a difference regardless of size, enabling activities ranging from maintenance of our historic properties to the spectacular music and special events we enjoy together.
Again we are in transition, embarked on a capital campaign and renovation of the parish hall that will enhance our physical space and create new spiritual opportunities. As we prepare for our next chapter, your support is urgently needed to ensure we have a strong financial foundation for ongoing church operations. Please consider pledging an amount that is meaningful to you as soon as possible so the Vestry can faithfully enact a 2024 budget that reflects our values and growing resource needs.
