Corporate Communications Launching New Plan to Reduce Emails & Improve Employee Engagement

For the last couple of months, the NSM Corporate Communications Team has been analyzing how engaged our employees are with the following communications vehicles:
  • Weekly NSMNews
  • Department Newsletters (ATP Advisor, CSS Chat, Funding Forum & Tech Talk)
  • Individual Emails (i.e. Open Enrollment, Performance Discussions, Executive Announcements)
  • WNSM (Intranet)
What did they learn?
NSM employees are engaged with the department newsletters (average 50%+ open rates), but not as engaged with our weekly news, standalone emails or WNSM. In fact, engagement rates have been slowly declining over the past two years with 35-40% of employees engaging with our weekly news and individual emails.
With this in mind, the Corporate Communications team has created a plan to help reduce the number of emails that NSM employees receive from corporate and centralize the information to make it easier for employees to find the resources needed to advance their professional and personal needs.
Below is what you can expect when we roll out the refreshed communication plan.
Access these THREE resources to stay informed at NSM
  1. Read NSMNews each Tuesday.
This is truly your weekly resource to keep up with what is going on at NSM. We are limiting standalone emails and consolidating all news into the weekly news.

  2. Read the department newsletter that is most appropriate to your job function that goes out on the third Friday of each month.
The ATP Advisor, Funding Forum, CSS Chat and Tech Talk newsletters are the best resources to know what is going on within each of these departments.

  3. Visit WNSM regularly to stay informed.
We have been working with all departments to be sure that the resources and information are updated regularly to be most helpful to our employees.
Simplified Format & Improved Navigation
  • The format for NSMNews and department newsletters has been simplified to make it easier to navigate and digest.
  • We have also started to centralize all news content on WNSM to make it easier to find and reference information in the future. For example, if a Human Resources article is in a weekly NSMNews issue, that same article will be archived on WNSM on the Weekly NSMNews page and on the Human Resources Department page to ensure the information is easily found when needed later.
By decreasing the number of emails you receive and increasing the visibility of important information, we hope that NSM employee engagement will significantly increase. Engaged employees drive a positive culture and are more productive which translates to a better customer experience!
We will be monitoring NSM employee engagement and surveying NSM employees periodically to learn how we are doing and adapt as we go. In the meantime, please send your comments, suggestions and questions to feedback@nsm-seating.com.
