CPACS Collective

Welcome to the First-Ever CPACS Collective e-Newsletter!

Welcome to the CPACS Collective. After a hiatus from paper newsletters, we decided to use this format to reconnect with you. The College is teeming with activity and overflowing with accomplishments. Below you will read about the achievements of our students and alumni. You will also see our high rankings, the opportunities we offer students, and data resources we offer to everyone. Maybe most important, read about how our emergency management student Alyssa Spartz helped respond to the devastating flooding that hit the state earlier this year. This is the essence of CPACS: to engage students in social problems and empower them to solve them. With students like her, I am optimistic about our future.

And you may wonder where the name for this newsletter came from. We did it in classic CPACS fashion. At our holiday faculty-staff luncheon, we put ballots on each table, people talked and cast their ballots and this was the run-away winner. It is a good choice because the definition of the word is: “done by people acting as a group.” That’s what we do, and that is the only way to make progress.
