Student Spotlight

Molly Dennie '16
Loves about Brebeuf:
I love the community at Brebeuf. This school makes everyone feel very much at home. There is a niche for everyone because there are all different types of people here. I like that there is always someone willing to be your friend and to be nice to you. I joined the cross country team my first summer at Brebeuf and immediately I knew everyone on the team and I was able to fit into Brebeuf right away.
Favorite Class:
My favorite academic class is AP Biology with Mrs. Hatfield because I think it is fascinating and the way we learn is very interesting. My favorite elective class is Yoga with Mrs. Watko because it is very relaxing and a nice break in the day.
Future Plans:
I would like to be a physical therapist. I’m interested in going into a six-year direct admit program for college. I’m currently between three schools – Nazareth College and Ithaca College in New York, and Northeastern University in Massachusetts. I am also interested in joining a quidditch team in college.
Teams & Co-Curriculars:
Cross Country
GSA Club
Social Justice Club
Presidential Ambassador
National Honor Society
Irish Dancing
Works at the Joseph Maley Foundation
Random Fact:
When I was six years old I was on the cover of an Irish dancing magazine.
Is Brebeuf as academically rigorous as they say?
I would say so, but it depends on the classes you take at Brebeuf. You don’t really have an easy schedule, but you can take an easier class load or you can also take all AP classes at Brebeuf. I’m currently in AP Calculus, AP Biology, and AP Physics, and it’s a lot of work.
It’s nice that you have the support of teachers at Brebeuf because they are available to help with your academics or questions. Many teachers are very understanding, and if you don’t get something done because you have so much going on, they are willing to help you out a little, if you talk to them.
Would you rather…
Would you rather be Batman or Superman?
I would rather be Superman because you can fly and that’s really cool.
Have a pet unicorn or pet dragon?
I would rather have a pet dragon because again, I would be able to fly around which is a plus but dragons also seem cooler.
Live in space or under the sea?
I would rather live under the sea because I have always had a particular affinity for water and swimming so I think I would fit in down there.
Go without junk food or TV (including Netflix) for the rest of your life?
I would rather go without TV because I love food too much.
Would you rather win an Academy Award or an Olympic Gold Medal?
I would rather win the gold medal because it would mean I get to travel to different places to compete.

Support for the Khan Family

On Monday, March 21, Brebeuf Jesuit President Fr. Jack Dennis, S.J. sent the message below.
"I send this message with a very sad and heavy heart, as I ask for prayers of healing and comfort for Brebeuf Jesuit World Language teacher, Rosina Khan, and her husband, as they grieve the unexpected loss of their four-month old son, Abdul Michael. There are no adequate words that can express the depth of their loss but, as a community, we pray together for the Khan family with love and hope in our hearts."

The outpouring of support and love has been amazing and overwhelming. The number of inquires from Brebeuf Jesuit families and friends looking to help is what led to the creation of a GoFundMe page, which can be found at the link below.
