Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
We recognize that Notre Dame’s most important assets are the people who work here. So we are pleased to announce the third and culminating phase of enhancements to faculty and staff compensation. Effective August 1, the University will:
- Award a special 3% increase to all eligible faculty and staff.
- Increase the starting wage for new hourly employees to $17.50.
- Increase hourly pay to more than $17.50 for current hourly employees who joined Notre Dame before January 1, 2022, in recognition of your loyalty and to ensure fairness with the new starting wage. Where appropriate, we will put in place similar fairness-based pay increases for eligible exempt employees, beyond the 3% increase referenced above.
- Increase the starting wage for student employees to $15.
Over the last two years, your perseverance and dedication through very challenging circumstances have been inspiring. Then and now, we continue to count on your partnership, collaboration and support, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do to advance the University’s mission.
We announced Phase 1 of our efforts to enhance compensation and express our gratitude in April, when the University funded a $14 million, one-time Employee Appreciation monetary award for eligible employees.
Then, in Phase 2 we invested $50 million in our faculty and staff, in the largest salary merit pool in the history of the University.
Finally, this announcement reflects Phase 3, which represents an additional $25 million investment in our faculty and staff.
The combined $75 million in recurring compensation increases from Phase 2 and 3 is the largest in the 180-year history of the University.
These additional investments in compensation will not impact our tuition rate or our investment in financial aid, as we remain deeply committed to accessibility and affordability.
Supervisors will notify employees receiving an adjustment by July 31. All employees will be able to view their new rate of pay via the University’s Salary Notification tool accessible via inside.nd.edu on August 1. More details can be found by visiting hr.nd.edu/you.
