Welcome to new member Nancy Lockhart!

January Communion Offering

In English, the phrase Becas con Bendiciones means “Scholarships with Blessings.”
This month, your Communion gifts will supply scholarships for impoverished Honduran students.Though public school in Honduras is technically "free" to attend, there are uniform requirements, shoes, sports clothing for P.E. classes, matriculation fees, maintenance fees, and basic school supplies which put formal education out of the reach of many children. In January 2006 PHUMC's Wednesday night children's program studied United Methodist missions in Honduras, learning a little Spanish, sampling some Honduran foods, and discovering that kids in Honduras got only four or five years of schooling because their parents couldn't afford to pay for uniforms, school supplies, and fees. So our kids jumped in to help. They began collecting change at home and at church, made announcements to the congregation, decorated collection boxes for Wednesday night supper tables, and quickly raised $300 for "Scholarships with blessings" to help kids in Honduras stay in school longer. Since that beginning in 2006, Parkway Hills has sponsored dozens of Honduran children. We receive thank-you letters and pictures from our sponsored kids every year. They are so grateful for our support!
Last year we provided 17 scholarships!
Your gift of $120 provides 100% of the school-related needs for a child in this program. Learn more by clicking here. Thank you for giving generously.
Parkway Hills Family: You have come through again!
We had more than enough volunteers to help wash the unclaimed coats collected by Jan Brister. Thank you!
When they are all  laundered, we will deliver them to the clothes closet at East Flora Elementary School and the Hispanic Ministry of FUMC of Morton. Many children will be warm this winter because of your willingness to serve!
PHUMC Beds for Kids Ministry delivered two beds to deserving children yesterday. We are making a difference. Beds for Kids will not be meeting tonight, but get ready, there are big things happening in our Beds for Kids Ministry!
Children's Sunday School resumes this Sunday in the Garden at 9:30 a.m. Ages 3 years old - 4th grade are welcome to attend as we continue working through our Celebrate Wonder Curriculum. We begin with a gathering time activity in the garden and an introduction to the lesson. Then the children will break off into age leveled classes to further explore the lesson. This month's theme is "Include." We will explore stories of Jesus's baptism and the calling of the disciples to learn about how welcoming and inviting God's love is for all. To volunteer click

All volunteers must submit a background check before volunteering with children and youth.
