A reception will be held on November 9th from 6-8 PM, and Leo W and Eli C will be on hand to provide musical accompaniment. Please come and enjoy a delicious meal, a variety of libations, and the artistic expressions of Academy students!
Special thanks to Katherine Anderson ’16  for her assistance in making possible this show.

Veterans Day Speaker - Monday, November 12 - 2:15 PM

Alec Zale '98, brother to Mrs. BZ, will be our speaker for Veterans Day. Zale served as a medic in the Army Reserve in the Iraq War for almost 15 months starting in 2003, including 3 months spent at Camp Chosin. Alec will reflect on his time in the service and its impact on his life today. As always, parents and friends of The Academy are welcome to join us for this event.

FALL EXHIBITION AND DINNER - NOVEMBER 12

Please join us to engage with our students regarding their exciting work this fall! They have been working diligently on their topics in Health (8th grade) and Biology (9th grade).

9th grade Biology students will be performing real-time experiments using volunteers from the crowd. Please come prepared to participate (or at least observe real science in action!) as they present Researching the Human Body's Organ Systems: Student-designed experimental procedures investigating interesting physiological/psychological phenomena tied to specific organ systems.

View and talk with 8th graders about their research, From Autism to Vegetarianism, and Everything in Between: Projects in Health.

Dinner begins at 5:15 PM with exhibits open at 6 PM.

This year's Exhibition Dinner will be provided by Mr. Gay and Team Aardvark, which is comprised of parents and students who are participating in the Hot Chocolate Run/Walk on December 2. The cost will be $7.00 and proceeds will benefit Safe Passage via the team. The menu will be roasted buttnernut squash soup, gluten free cornbread, and salad with roasted chick peas and roasted vegetables.

AUCTION THANKS

Many thanks to many people for creating a wonderful community event last Saturday for current and former parents and faculty members, alumni/ae, and friends of The Academy.

Students’ themed baskets were a highlight of the silent auction - creative and abundant and very appealing. Student volunteers were cheerful and extraordinarily helpful in every way.

Hundreds of collective hours go into producing an event like this, and the list of parent volunteers is long. Whether part of the planning team, the set up crew, the catering team, the servers or the cleaning crew, every hour is an expression of support and care for our school.

We’re grateful to all involved for making this year’s auction and social a beautiful, bountiful, and delicious experience. Thank you!
