A Message from Dean Raghu Sundaram and Vice Dean Robert Whitelaw
Dear first-year students and parents/guardians:

On September 2, classes will resume at NYU Stern and the fall semester will officially begin as a hybrid model of in-person and remote classes with a reduced capacity on campus in accordance with NYU and New York State guidelines. Our teams of faculty, administrators, and students have been working around the clock these past months in preparation, and as a result we have a comprehensive Stern Returns plan in place.

Stern Returns website
Throughout the summer, we have shared a lot of detail around protocols, procedures, and what to expect. We would like to remind you, and encourage you, to visit and bookmark the Stern Returns website. Updates to existing topics and new topic categories have been added since our last communication, and on the site you will find information on:
  • Bike Racks
  • Bloomberg Terminals
  • Building and Cleaning Protocols
  • Campus Life and Housing
  • Classrooms
  • Compliance: Keep Each Other Safe
  • Events and Meetings
  • Fire Drills
  • Food and Beverage Guidelines

NYU Update websites
NYU has also continuously posted updates across the NYU website. We also encourage you to continue to refer to these important resources, including NYU's COVID-19-related information hub, and NYU Go Local.

Undergraduate College offices
The Undergraduate College offices will remain fully operational on a remote basis through August 28. On August 31, we will begin very limited in-person office hours for emergent student needs. In complying with building de-densification protocols, we urge you to consider if your questions can be handled remotely before attempting an in-person route. If you are unsure, please don’t hesitate to reach out to an adviser or trusted administrator. You can find a list of office contacts here.

There is also one other important update we want to bring to your attention:

Student Conduct Requirements–August 24 Deadline
We expect students and other members of the NYU community to follow the health guidelines we are setting for the good of everyone in the community, including mandatory facial coverings, physical distancing, and symptom screening. All students will be required to Complete Student Conduct Requirements by August 24.

We look forward to welcoming you–and to welcoming you back–to the Stern community for the fall semester and will stay in touch.

Best regards,

Raghu Sundaram
