Delays in benefit distribution and paychecks due to the record government shutdown have left many in our community struggling to put food on the table. At the same time, our local, family farmers have lost crucial income from SNAP as they head into the slower winter months. During this time of uncertainty for so many, Texas Farmers Market remains committed to helping feed our neighbors—and supporting our farmers and ranchers whose livelihoods are dependent on you, the shoppers, at our two farmers' markets. Keep reading to learn more about what we are doing to address these issues and how you can get involved, or click here to donate.
We are now accepting both perishable and non-perishable donations at both Bell and Mueller for our annual food drive, in partnership with Keep Austin Fed, ATX Free Fridge, and the Central Texas Food Bank. You can stop by either market and drop off items in the designated bins, or purchase fresh produce from our farmers to donate—providing healthy, seasonal food while also supporting local growers.
We’ve also partnered with the Sustainable Food Center to offer Double Up Fresh Bucks, a temporary program providing $10–$30 for market shoppers who have experienced a loss of services or income, which can be used on food and drinks from TFM vendors. Stop by the Information Booth at either market to learn more. (Funding is limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. All Fresh Bucks expire December 31, 2025.)Â
At our Mueller market, we are working in collaboration with the Central Texas Food Bank and A New Entry to rescue surplus produce and other food items leftover from our farmers and vendors. This effort is aimed at reducing food waste while redirecting nutritious, local food into the hands of those who need it most.

A Central Texas ThanksgivingÂ
Our friend Chef Leanne Valenti has created A Central Texas Thanksgiving, a free online guide designed to help you plan your holiday menu using ingredients harvested right here in Central Texas.
The guide not only offers inspiration for your Thanksgiving feast, but also highlights local farmers, ranchers, and farmers' markets like ours, so you can learn where your food comes from and celebrate the people who grow it while shopping for your ingredients. You’ll also find 75+ recipes from 30+ Austin chefs!
This is the last weekend to stop by Texas Farmers’ Market at Bell or Mueller to scan the QR codes at our farmers’ booths and explore the guide before Thanksgiving. Come by, get inspired, and plan your Thanksgiving feast around the local harvest!Â
