Winter break hours start this week
|
Main and Weaver Libraries is closed for winter break from Dec. 23-Jan. 2.
Special Collections is closed Dec. 21-Jan. 2.
Health Sciences Library is closed Dec. 23-Dec. 26 and Dec. 31-Jan. 2. CatCard access for UAHS affiliates is available during December.
Regular hours resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

| Free access to more online newspapers, magazines in January

Starting in January 2023, University of Arizona students, faculty, and staff can enjoy free online access to more newspapers and magazines.
"Transitioning from print to digital when we can allows more library users to have access anywhere, anytime, and improves usability,” said Senior Information Resource Officer Michael Brewer.

The University of Arizona's next 2022-2023 Black Faculty Speaker Series guest speaker is Ruha Benjamin, PhD, on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
Benjamin's many roles include professor, Department of African American studies at Princeton University; founding director, IDA B. WELLS Just Data Lab; and faculty associate, Center for Information Technology Policy, Program on History of Science, Center for Health and Wellbeing, and Program on Gender and Sexuality Studies.

Take a fun, quick tour of the Student Success District with College of Fine Arts student Brach Drew (pictured).
The video was created by our oral historian and digital media producer, Aengus Anderson, who also produces Archive Tucson, the University Libraries’ ever-growing collection of interviews about life and change in Tucson and Southern Arizona.

| Special Collections' 'Satellites' opened to full house
|
Natalie Songer's live, multi-media performance, "Satellites," made its U.S. debut to a full house in Special Collections on Monday, Dec. 5.
Songer, who is based in the U.K., wrote and performed "Satellites," about the work of her great-great-uncle, Tom Gehrels, a professor of planetary sciences and astronomy at the University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory and the Department of Planetary Sciences from 1961 to 2011.

Finals study break events with therapy pets, more
|
Students geared up for finals week with support activities at Main Library and Health Sciences Library, which included snacks, a coloring station, self-care goodie bags, drop-in reference help, a Virtual Reality meditation session, back rubs from Stressbusters in Campus Health, and of course, therapy dogs (and a cat) from Pet Partners of Southern Arizona.
Many details and moving parts are involved in the planning and coordination of these events. Thanks to our staff who made it all possible.
