This month’s newsletter will get you up to speed on all the buzz of a fresh semester: hiring new students or full-time staff, Week of Welcome, new-year resources and wellness tips – it's all here.
It’s an exciting time of year, as new Yellow Jackets join us from all over the state, country, and world. That means it’s the best time to lend a hand and share a smile by participating in Week of Welcome events. We want to show our new students that we care, so you’ll find opportunities to participate below.
With an influx of new students also comes new student employees. It can be stressful enough to acclimate to the college experience and a new environment, so we’ve got information on how to help make your student employee’s onboarding stress-free. If it’s a full-time staffer that you’re looking to hire or is just starting, we’ve also included some toolkits to help make sure you get the most out of your interviews or align your new employee to Institute procedure.

Job Families & Career Paths Info Session Recording |
Georgia Tech is preparing for a Job Families implementation.
A job family is a group of related job titles within an organization that share similar skills, responsibilities, and career paths. This work will allow Tech to better manage its workforce, establish fair compensation structures, and plan for career development and progression.
On July 23, we shared updates on this initiative and gave highlights on the model and answered questions about this framework.
In case you missed it, we're sharing the latest info session recording.

Do you know a new student employee? Maybe you’ve recently hired one. Help make their hiring process smooth and stress-free with the student employee onboarding event at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering from Aug. 14-16.
With thousands of new student employees beginning work this fall, Administrative Services Center staff are here to help navigate onboarding documentation, answer any questions, reduce onboarding stress for the incoming Yellow Jackets, and of course, welcome new employees.
The event is open to any undergraduate and graduate student who needs assistance with the onboarding process. Students should plan to attend if they have been recently hired, have not received a paycheck from Georgia Tech in the past two years, or were previously employed as an affiliate.

Offering timely employee recognition is critical to the significance and impact of the recognition. Make time for recognition when you’re in the thick of it (like this August, perhaps)! These are the moments where sharing your appreciation can be the most motivating. Find 5 minutes to let your team know that you see their hard work and dedication— it shows that you’re paying attention and truly value their contributions.
