LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Hi Friends,

It has been a busy couple of weeks for KCB. As you may well know our funding was completely cut from the City of Cincinnati’s 2020 budget for the first time in our 40 year history. Hundreds of individuals called and emailed on our behalf and Mayor Cranley has pledged to restore funding but we still need City Council's stamp of approval.

In spite of the city budget crisis, we coordinated our largest volunteer event EVER! An army of 500 volunteers from Gorilla Glue swarmed Bramble Park in Madisonville completing over 20 different projects (a $75,000 makeover). Before we could pack up neighbors were coming to play in the park.  Including an uncle and nephew, Reggie and “Smalls” who come to the park often. They loved the refreshed basketball courts, murals, and couldn’t wait to try out the new swings. Every child like “Smalls” deserves a great place to grow up.
Please let City Council know that funding for Keep Cincinnati Beautiful should be included in the budget and not contingent on the State’s Local Government Fund. Providing resources for safer, cleaner, more connected neighborhoods is too important to leave to chance. Check out our website to learn how you can help!

Sincerely,

Jonathan Adee

Executive Director

PAST EVENTS

EARTH DAY OTR

Even though it was gloomy and cold, we had an excellent turnout for Earth Day. We also want to celebrate another successful One Stop Recycling Drop. With 180 participants we diverted 3,050lbs from the landfill - that’s almost THREE Fiona’s!

GORILLA GLUE

COMMUNITY DAY!

Gorilla Glue Community Day was our largest volunteer event yet with 500 in attendance. We headed to Madisonville's Bramble Park and revitalized the space through 20 different projects! Thank you Gorilla Glue again for your hard work and dedication to the community!

RESOURCES
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Spring was a busy season with eight different field trips to seven different locations engaging hundreds of students. These first-hand experiences immerse students in natural resource conservation, like the second graders from College Hill Fundamental Academy who visited Fernald Preserve in Hamilton, OH. Our goal is to provide these free experiences to inspire stewardship for the environment.

Contact Kara Luggen for information on 2019-20 field trip experiences for your class.

HELP-A-LOT

Have you heard about our Help-A-Lot Program? Is there a lot in your neighborhood that needs some help?

Help-A-Lot gives local organizations the opportunity to raise funds for their organization by recruiting volunteers to abate properties designated by the city.  KCB provides the tools and equipment to clean and mow the properties, while DPS provides garbage and yard waste collection.

Enquire today: Help-A-Lot.

SPONSOR AND GRANT UPDATES

Artswave
Big shout out to Artswave, who has awarded our Arts Program funding for the 6th year in a row with their Catalyzing Impact Grant! The $5,000 will help to support and extend the reach of our 40th Anniversary Mini-Mural Series.
Cincinnati Bulk Terminals
Thanks to our friends and long-time supporters at Cincinnati Bulk Terminals for a $5,000 sponsorship of the Great American Cleanup. With their help, we’re able to provide essential cleanup supplies for community cleanups. We couldn't do it without you!

Magnified Giving

We were honored to receive a $1,000 Magnified Giving Award from the Give Group for our work to empower people to create a more positive future. Magnified Giving works to educate, inspire and engage students in philanthropy. The Magnified Giving award will be used to provide general support for all of our programs.

Elsa Heisel Sule Foundation

We are thrilled to have received an award of $10,000 from the Elsa Heisel Sule Foundation to support our Environmental Education programs. With their help, we are going to reach 30,000 students during the 2019-20 academic year!

Montgomery Elementary

2nd Grade Class

We want to extend our gratitude to the 2nd Grade class at Montgomery Elementary. They donated the proceeds of their pet rock sale and lemonade stand to KCB - it was over $500!! Their donation was an amazing surprise and a great show of support for our programs!
