Message from Dina Abu-Jubara — Graduate Assistant, Downtown Student Affairs
Good Afternoon, My name is Dina, and I am a Graduate Assistant for a newly created role on the UCF Downtown Campus. Downtown Student Success and the Division of Student Learning and Academic Success have teamed up to bring high-impact practice opportunities for downtown students. Students can learn about opportunities in research, experiential learning, studying abroad, and other student resources to enhance their college experience outside of the classroom.
My role is to introduce students to these different opportunities and connect them with the respective offices. These include: Career Services, Experiential Learning, Academic Advancement Programs, Office of Undergraduate Research, Pre-Health and Pre-Law Advising, UCF Abroad, and Knights of Distinction. More information can be found on our new website at: https://dtc.sdes.ucf.edu/success/dslas/. If you know of any students who may benefit (all students!), please have them contact me at DowntownSLAS@ucf.edu to schedule an appointment. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Parking Permits Now Available for Spring and Summer Terms
In recognition of the challenges that many in our UCF community faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Central Florida extended parking permits that were set to expire in August through December 31, 2020, adding another four months of parking at no additional cost. To continue supporting the UCF community, the cost of multi-semester parking permits for the remainder of the academic year will be reduced by one-third, so that students, faculty, and staff will pay for only the Spring and Summer 2021 semesters of parking. Parking permit fees and student transportation access fees generate revenue that allows the continued operation of Parking and Transportation Services, including campus shuttles that carry nearly 2 million passengers a year, annual debt payments on nine parking garages, construction of surface parking lots, and maintenance of parking facilities.
Parking permits may be purchased online: https://secure.parking.ucf.edu/parkingportal/
Please contact Parking and Transportation Services at decals@ucf.edu for more information if you recently purchased a multi-semester permit for Spring and Summer 2021.

Hitt Library Third Floor Renovations
The second phase of the Hitt Library renovation project will commence in June 2021. To that end, all materials on the third floor, which includes the Library of Congress classifications H-M (business, political science, law, education, music) perforce will be ingested slowly into the Automated Retrieval Center (ARC) between January and May 2021. Thus, alas, physical access to the third floor will be closed beginning this January. Discussions are underway at the moment as to how best to manage access to materials on the third floor during this period.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Richard H. Harrison II.
