To our Young Life Amicus Community,
Since 1980, Amicus has operated as Young Life’s international student exchange program - transforming students, families and communities by connecting teenagers and hosts from around the world with one another and the mission at large. It’s with a heavy heart that we need to deliver the sad but necessary news that we are going to discontinue the Amicus program.
The Covid-19 pandemic has made it extremely difficult for any international program, within and outside of Young Life, to function during this prolonged season, and Amicus has been impacted deeply. We were already facing growing challenges related to securing the right hosts for students in and around the mission of Young Life. In addition, there have been increasing financial challenges as we strive to maintain our level of excellence in personal relationships and service to hosts, students and everyone connected in Amicus.
Amicus has served a great purpose in Young Life’s mission of introducing kids to Jesus and helping them grow in their faith. Young Life’s President, Newt Crenshaw, wanted to share a few words about the impact of Amicus over the last four decades.
