This month’s Parent Newsletter is loaded with information, important dates, and advice to know before we welcome you and your Pilot to campus in two short months.
Support from parents during college is a direct connection to success both inside and outside the classroom. Whether you’re a seasoned Pilot Parent or new to the Pilot Family, please know that there is support for YOU during your student’s college journey. Reach out to me at parents@up.edu with any questions or concerns you have.

PARENTS AS PARTNERS WEBINARS ARE BACK!
The Office of Alumni & Parent Relations is excited to bring back our Parents as Partners webinars in July and August! This series of informational webinars will offer insights into understanding financial aid & student accounts, life on campus, and your student's health and wellness during their time at UP. Our first webinar, with staff from Financial Aid & Student Accounts, happens on July 19! Get all webinar dates, details, and registration information here.
TOP 8 TIPS FOR ROOMMATE SUCCESS
This month, incoming first-year students receive their on-campus housing assignments, which may be met with excitement or fear. These Top 8 Tips for a successful roommate experience, written by a recent UP graduate and former Resident Assistant, are a must-read for you and your student! Some great conversation starters to consider this month are: "What are you most looking forward to about college life?" and "What are your biggest concerns about sharing a room?"
TUITION INVOICES EMAILED JULY 1
Fall tuition and housing invoices will be emailed to students’ UP email accounts on July 1; payment is due on August 8. Learn how to set up Parent Proxy access to gain access to this information; your student must initiate the process of granting proxy access. If your student has health insurance coverage, they should complete and submit a Health Insurance Waiver which becomes available after July 15, or they will be responsible for paying the $1,603 premium for PacificSource Health Plan that all students are automatically enrolled in. For more information, contact stu-acct@up.edu.
2022 STUDENT ORIENTATION SCHEDULE IS HERE!
New Student Orientation is for students and their families. It starts on move-in day, August 25, and the parent portion ends at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Don't miss this chance to meet the UP community and fellow Pilot Parents, as you learn about important University services and resources.
Encourage your student to complete their pre-arrival orientation course before they arrive on campus in August.
TEN GREAT REASONS TO STUDY ABROAD
You might not have even started a packing list for campus yet, but it's not too early for you and your student to start thinking about a Study Abroad experience while at UP, and for your student to explore the options. Applications are due every year on November 1 for the following summer, fall, and spring programs. Reach out to studyabroad@up.edu with any questions, and follow their adventures on Instagram.
SENDING MAIL & PACKAGES TO CAMPUS: HOW IT WORKS
Who doesn't love a letter or package from home (or Amazon!)? UP’s Mailing Services office, located in Tyson Hall, offers some timely tips and information about how to correctly address letters, packages, and even boxes of belongings to your on-campus student prior to move-in day in August. Reach out to packages@up.edu if you have questions about mail at UP, or visit their Incoming Package & Mail page.
