Hello international alumni & friends!

Summer is a beautiful time of year in Valparaiso, Indiana, but the downside of the season is that there aren’t many students around. They will be returning very soon, but before they do, it's a perfect time to reconnect with all of you who have spread out around the world.
Below you’ll find the following highlights:
  • An overview of the 2022–2023 academic year
  • A notice for the 2023 Food Bazaar coming up in September
  • Some ways to stay connected with your Valpo family
  • A couple of international alumni profiles
Enjoy!

Kamaruddin is now an professional electrical engineer with a practicing certificate in Malaysia. His previous roles have included associate professor at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, senior researcher at the DISD Research Centre, and major in the Malaysian Ministry of Defense. Kamaruddin has fond memories of having to write the Valpo Honor Code on all quizzes, tests, and assignments! He says that the Valpo experience was tough and enjoyable, giving him the opportunity to be independent and persevere in his career.

Nandin-Erdene Munkhbat ’15
B.A. - Economics

Nandin was a very active student while at Valpo, adding three minors (math, French, Japanese) along with her major of economics, and participating in organizations such as Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and VISA. She held several on-campus jobs as well!
“At the time I had no idea that all of my college experiences would positively influence my future job in Mongolia, but after I came back, I joined one of the biggest commercial banks of Mongolia, Golomt Bank, on invitation and I chose the department I wanted to work for, which was the custodian banking department,” Nandin says. She has served in multiple roles over the last few years, and took the lead in successfully attracting JP Morgan as a global custodian in 2017 with Golomt Bank being appointed as the only local sub-custodian bank.
Nandin is forever thankful to her Valpo family for all of the events that have happened in her life after graduation. At each step of the way she realizes how great a gift of experience and skills she received from Valpo. She says “my wish is to come back to my great old Valpo for a Homecoming very soon with my sweet little daughter and show her the place so near and dear to my heart forever.”
