A letter from Camille to her Love Bus supporters
A letter from Camille to her Love Bus supporters
Dear Lucy’s Love Bus supporter,
My name is Camille and I am 14 years old. In January of 2013, when I was ten, I was diagnosed with an aggressive childhood cancer c alled osteosarcomaMy whole world was turned upside down in the blink of an eye.
Osteosarcoma is a bone cancer, and the tumor was in my right leg. Over the next few months, I went through chemo, leg surgery, and surgery on both of my lungs.
I was in a lot of pain, had intense anxiety, and spent much of the next three years in the hospital, at appointments, or at home. It took a very long time to heal from my three surgeries.
I worked really hard to accept my challenges, and to be grateful every day for what I still had instead of thinking about what I had lost.

In the fall of 2013, my mom found Lucy’s Love Bus, and they recommended acupuncture for my pain, anxiety, and side effects from chemo. Love Bus introduced me to my acupuncturist, Tracy, and has paid for all of my acupuncture appointments since then.  In June of 2015, I had a relapse, and the cancer came back in both of my lungs. I had two more lung surgeries and I went on a clinical trial involving immunotherapy. I went off treatment, and I have been in remission for 17 months.
Love Bus is so special to us, because they don’t give up on me.
Your support helps so many kids stay connected to the parts of themselves that are healthy and thriving.

I want to thank you for all of the support you have given me over the past three years.

I hope that you will donate to Love Bus again this year so that Lucy’s dream of helping other children can continue to touch the lives of people like me.
Thank you for helping me feel less alone.
