Thomas McElroy, CEO of Level-1 Global Solutions and CCAC member, hosted the lunch event at Taste 222 on North Canal Street and introduced President Preckwinkle.  McElroy noted the names of dozens of well known local, state and federal level leaders who began their careers on her professional teams over time.
President Preckwinkle provided her perspective on the future of Cook County and Chicago, described her close working relationship with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, and enlightened the audience with many details of her program and policy priorities going forward.

2023 Mayoral Transition Report

Nearly 400 Chicagoans, representing a wealth of diverse perspectives, served on 11 transition committees that offered robust ideas and recommendations for Mayor Brandon Johnson's administration. They represent an unprecedented diversity of voices and perspectives—including diversity based on race, gender, generation, income level and neighborhood, and with representatives from business, civic, social justice and community-based organizations.
The final report is designed to serve as a blueprint, for building bridges between the city’s diverse communities and voices and between vision and action, so that every child, every family, and every neighborhood can experience the fully embodied Soul of Chicago that the Mayor invoked in his inauguration speech—so that all of our neighborhoods are safe, equitable and truly thriving.

Congratulations to NASCAR Chicago

Tens of thousands attended the two-day race weekend in Grant Park on July 1 and 2 for the first-ever street race for NASCAR.  Torrential, record-setting rain and flooding couldn't keep the fans away and the ever-diligent NASCAR Chicago team and professional drivers were not deterred.
NASCAR Chicago Street Course President Julie Giese and her entire team pulled off an event that in most other cities would have been simply canceled.
CCAC members and other Chicago residents on Twitter reported hearing event attendees commenting about the beauty of Chicago and saying they were planning to return for longer visits soon. (Chicago looked great on the race day coverage.)  The races themselves, particularly the Cup Race on Sunday, have been acclaimed by critics and drivers alike as one of the most exciting NASCAR races to date.
Here's hoping NASCAR 2024 has the weather more typical of Chicago in July.
