VIEW VIRGINIA INDIAN HISTORY THROUGH RARE PHOTOGRAPHY
"FOCUSED: A Century of Virginia Indian Resilience," a yearlong exhibition at Jamestown Settlement, looks at 100 years of Virginia Indian resiliency through the lens of personal and professional photography collections. View photographic collections from the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian, anthropologist Frank Speck, Baltimore Sun photographer A. Aubrey Bodine, and contemporary American Indian photographers. Images capture Virginia Indian daily life, including glimpses of education, fishing and hunting, traditional crafts and cultural heritage. Exhibition included with museum admission. 
JUNE 19: CELEBRATE JUNETEENTH IN SPECIAL AFTERNOON PROGRAM
Commemorate Juneteenth – an American celebration that marks the end of slavery in the United States. On Saturday, June 19, Jamestown Settlement presents a thought-provoking 90-minute program of reflection, performance, music and dance. Encounter stories of African Americans from three centuries who fought for freedom through first-person portrayals. Enjoy the sounds of African drums and interpretive dance of Clavos Unidos with interludes of song by Lisa Reid-Williamson and All 4 Christ. RED, WHITE AND BOOM! LIBERTY CELEBRATION SET FOR JULY 4
This Fourth of July, salute the 245th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Enjoy a special lineup to mark the patriotic occasion, including artillery firings, interpretive programs and performances by the Fifes & Drums of York Town. Glimpse up-close a 1776 Broadside of the infamous document to learn about the challenges of our nation’s founders and those for whom the new nation’s rights of freedom and liberty did not yet apply. Event included with museum admission.
