Prospecting Idea: Small Business Tax Credit

The SECURE (Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement) Act is a bill that was passed within the House of Representatives to include a number of provisions with respect to retirement plans. One specifically is an increase in tax credits to employers implementing a qualified plan. To learn more about the SECURE Act and tax credits available, please click below.

Here are a few things to note:
Within the Guide, we reference certain resources on our website. Most of the referenced resources are located
here.

While there are plans to unveil revamped Plan Highlights and Forms, as of now, these kit components have not been updated. Be on the lookout for updates later in 2020 on these items.

Certain components of the enrollment kit, including the Welcome Letter, Guide and Investor Profile Questionnaire are available to order in Spanish.

Important Compliance Deadlines

Here are some important dates that will affect many calendar-year retirement plans over the coming months.

February 28 – Deadline to file paper 1099-R.
March 15 – Deadline to make corrective distributions to Highly Compensated Employees for traditional 401(k) Plans that fail the ADP and ACP Test for the prior year. Distributions processed after this date will require the Employer to pay a 10% penalty.
March 15 – Deadline for S-Corporations not requesting a tax extension to fund contributions and receive tax deductions on the S-Corporation's prior year tax return. (Form 1120S)
March 15 – Deadline for Partnerships not requesting a tax extension to fund contributions and receive tax deductions on the S-Corporation's prior year tax return. (Form 1065)
