Election Day is in 9 Days – Are You Ready? |
|
|
Make a plan to vote now! If you are voting by mail, plan to get your ballot filled out and sent back in the mail early this week so that it arrives on time. You can check the deadline for returning the ballot in your state. Mail-in ballots can be returned via the U.S. Postal Service. There is a full-service post office in Curtis Hall. You can also send mail by placing it in the outgoing mailbox at the Campus Center or the blue USPS collection box on Packard Avenue near West Hall. View a map of where to mail your ballot.
If you are voting in person, look up your polling location, check your registration status, and make a plan for getting there on election day. Early voting is happening now!
Now is also a good time to make a plan to handle election-related stress. The outcome of the presidential election likely won't be known on election day. Taking the time to carefully count all votes is a sign of a healthy democracy. But the resulting period of uncertainty can also lead to stress. Think now about how you want to spend a few days after the election. Here are a few suggestions you may consider:
|
- Make it easier on yourself by working ahead. If you have exams happening or assignments due in the week after election day, consider studying now or working ahead on the assignment so that you have fewer demands on your time during a period of uncertainty where you may be distracted.
-
Spend time in community. During periods of stress and uncertainty, connecting with friends and loved ones can be useful and affirming.
-
There's more on the ballot than the presidential race. Many house, senate, gubernatorial, and local races plus ballot questions of all kinds are being decided this election. If focusing on the presidential election is challenging or there are no updates, you can pay attention to local issues that are important to you.
