We hope you had a refreshing and enjoyable Spring Break!
Registration for Summer and Fall 2026 starts this week (grad students can start signing up for courses now)! LCLC will promote LCSL programs in SCE starting Wednesday, 1 April: there are still open slots to volunteer to help us talk to students about language and culture courses, major and minor programs, study abroad, language events, becoming a tutor/LLA, and more. Even if you can’t make it, let your current students know they can stop by to pick up a button to represent their favorite language(s)! And a couple weeks from now on Saturday, 18 April, we will be at LAS Ignite doing the same thing, so keep an eye out for that.
Do you have strong upper-level students in 104, 114, or 200+ classes in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, or Spanish? Encourage them to become a peer tutor or LLAs! It will help upper-level enrollments in your program and nudge your star students toward a minor or major (tutors/LLAs must take at least one upper-level course each semester), and it’s a great opportunity for them to professionalize their language skills and make a little extra money after completing the 1-credit apprenticeship course. Experience tutoring and LLAing looks great on a resume/CV too, and makes students stronger candidates, so it's a win-win!
