Draft appointment, promotion, and tenure policies have been written for different faculty tracks at the new SPH: Tenure track, Practice track, Research Track, and Teaching track. Given the explicitly interdisciplinary nature of the new SPH, and the work in public health currently being done by faculty in other schools at WashU, we anticipate that WashU’s existing joint appointment mechanism will be used to foster participation in the SPH by faculty from other schools. SPH faculty policy inquiries can be directed to Mary McKay, Debra Haire-Joshu, and Brad Evanoff.

The proposal for the Public Health & Society minor is complete and was approved by A&S faculty in late March. The minor will be open for student enrollment in Fall 2024.
Current A&S undergraduate students have been made aware of Public Health & Society course offerings ahead of enrollment beginning in mid-April.
The Public Health & Society major proposal is anticipated to be submitted to the A&S curriculum committee for review in late April.

The OPH has prepared an initial draft for staffing the divisions and units of the School of Public Health. Active partnerships with key university partners such as Finance, HR, and Workday continue to inform the team’s recommendations. Validation of structure and staffing proposals will be dependent on the arrival of the inaugural dean and final approval of all administration, operations, and staffing will sit with the SPH dean and provost.

| CEPH Accreditation Timeline |
The SPH accreditation timeline is progressing smoothly toward 2024 milestones, with the internal application submission (IAS) for accreditation recently dispatched to contacts at CEPH for a pre-submission review. Plans are underway to make any final edits necessary to the application within the coming weeks, allowing the university to be well-prepared for final submission in June.

The Dean Recruitment and Nominations Committee is actively engaging with top public health leaders who are considering the inaugural dean position. Several of the nominees are seriously exploring the opportunities WashU has to offer, and the committee feels confident in its ability to present recommendations to the provost in the spring.
