New Seabin Network on the Tennessee River
On World Water Day on March 22nd, TDOT joined with Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful and other partners in Chattanooga to announce a network of 18 new Seabin devices that are to be established throughout the Tennessee River watershed. TDOT has grant funded 10 of the 18 Seabin devices, as well as two years of Living Lands and Waters cleanups, to benefit the river and it’s tributaries across the state. Seabin devices are automated and act as a large pool skimmer to filter litter, gasoline, oils and microplastics from the water. One Seabin device can remove up to 3,000 lbs. of litter annually. The devices are being installed at the following locations:
- Louisville Landing Marina - Louisville, TN
- Volunteer Landing Marina – Knoxville, TN
- Tennessee Aquarium – Chattanooga, TN
- Harrison Bay State Park – Soddy Daisy, TN
- Pickwick Landing State Park – Hardin County, TN
- Paris Landing State Park – Henry County, TN
- Lake Ocoee Inn & Marina – Benton, TN
- Tellico Marina – Vonore, TN
- Clifton RV & Marina – Clifton, TN
- Fontana Village Resort – Fontana, NC
- Joe Wheeler State Park - Rogersville, AL
- Florence Harbor Marina – Florence, AL
This new network of automated skimming devices is the largest such network on any river system in the world. To find out more information, please click the button below.
