NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Indie Pop/R&B recording artist, Josh Stephens (Be Balance Publishing), celebrates the release of his sophomore single “Who Taught You.”* Released in early January, the track is AVAILABLE NOW (via all digital retail outlets and streaming platforms--Amazon/Apple Music/iTunes/ Pandora/Spotify/Tidal) and fast approaching 65,000 streams. The new tune follows the up and comer’s debut single, titled “Runaway,” and is the second in a series of tracks slated for release throughout the year.

Penned by Stephens alongside Nicole Miller, “Who Taught You” was produced by Zack Page and recorded in Nashville, TN. Catering to multiple genres (akin to his creative influences Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth and Shawn Mendes), the upbeat tune spotlights a saucy introduction juxtaposed by pulsating bass and acoustic pop accompaniment to emanate a seductive R&B vibe that is echoed by the Belmont grad’s sensual, flirtatious vocal delivery. The storyline broaches the all-time, historical question surrounding romantic chemistry and attraction as an unknown quandary.

“This song is an upbeat dance tune,” introduced the twenty-three-year-old singer songwriter, Josh Stephens. “We didn’t write about just one person or ‘that girl;’ sometimes you can be captivated by how a person speaks, carries themselves or handles certain situations. For me, the idea came from a culmination of past relationships, but can be interpreted differently by each listener from their personal perspective--some similarly and some differently. I think that’s what makes for a good song.”

Stephens is writing and recording daily; the single arrives as a campaign strategy to release a series of tracks in summer and fall 2021.
