Dear Student,

The advising teams for the Schools of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and the SMFA are pleased to once again host Majors Month, which will begin on Wednesday, October 16, and conclude on Wednesday, November 20.

This month-long programming initiative is meant to support First-Years, Sophomores, and Juniors in the School of Arts and Sciences as you discern the majors and/or minors you will pursue for your undergraduate degree. In partnership with the Career Center, Tisch Library, the Center for STEM Diversity, FIRST Resource Center, and The Gordon Institute and Derby Entrepreneurship Center, we will be offering events and workshops to help you understand the major declaration process, explore majors and minors offered at Tufts, and think critically about how your degree will serve you after graduation in academic or professional opportunities.

Majors Month is an excellent opportunity for you to engage with faculty and departments across the School of Arts & Sciences, as well as with various other offices and resources that can support you as you explore academic and co-curricular learning opportunities while at Tufts.

Collect a raffle ticket at every in-person event you attend to be entered into a raffle for prizes!

First-Years: You're almost done with your first semester of college! What's next? While you have until March 1 of your sophomore year to declare a major, we encourage you to use this time to explore all that Tufts has to offer! Check out our event on Tuesday, October 22, Major Decisions: Finding Your Way in the Liberal Arts, to interact with faculty from several Arts & Sciences departments and learn about their undergraduate experiences and the twists and turns that led them to where they are today!

Sophomores: Later this academic year, you will need to declare your primary major for your BA/BS degree! The Arts & Sciences Majors Exploration Fair on Thursday, October 31, is a great time to see all of the departments in the same place at the same time. Stop by the tables of the majors or minors you are considering! Talk to faculty, staff, and students about the major requirements and courses to take in the spring! Start the process of finding your major advisor!

Juniors/Seniors: You are more than halfway through your undergraduate career at Tufts! Make sure to check out our alumni panel event in partnership with Tufts Career Center on Thursday, October 24, You Majored in What?!, to hear from recent Tufts alumni and learn the interesting paths they have taken since graduating. We also recommend visiting the Career Center's Career Lab Drop-Ins for resume or cover letter reviews and to get answers to quick questions about jobs, internships, or networking!
