Illnesses and Deaths in Pets Exposed to Prescription Topical Pain Medication

FDA is alerting pet owners, veterinarians, health care providers and pharmacists that pets are at risk of illness and death when exposed to topical pain medications containing the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) flurbiprofen. People using these medications should use care when applying them in a household with pets, as even very small amounts could be dangerous to these animals.  Read more...
Protecting Your Practice:  Clinic Break-Ins in East Tennessee

As you may be aware, over the past several months, more than thirty burglaries have targeted veterinary clinics in east and middle Tennessee.  The total loss from these burglaries is estimated at more than half a million dollars in property damage and stolen medications.  All the clinics have had property damage, such as windows, doors and locks destroyed from forced entry, and in some cases, security system lines cut in an effort to silence alarms.  Items stolen include petty cash, flea, tick, and heartworm medications and NSAIDs.
