Hi guys! My name is Christalia Barone, and I am a current junior studying Science Business with two minors in Science, Technology, and Values and Musical Theatre! You guys may also know me as I co-run the Galvin Instagram page!
I am from Long Island, New York (I grew up in NYC though) and on campus, I live in McGlinn Hall. Attending Notre Dame has truly been a life changing experience. I have met so many amazing friends and mentors along the way, and these relationships are ones that I hope to carry with me for a very long time. I was fortunate enough to study abroad this past semester in London, and it was honestly one of the most eye-opening and amazing experiences I could have ever had.
This past summer and winter break, I had the honor of working in the Administrative suite of a huge hospital chain in New York City. The people at Montefiore Health System have furthered my interest in healthcare administration and have inspired me to go and pursue a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration once I graduate from Notre Dame. Last year, I also had the honor of attending a tech trek in Silicon Valley in California, where my eyes were opened to the wonders of the tech world and what we can achieve with new technological advancements. That further stirred my interest in technology, pushing me to add the Science, Technology, and Values minor.
Looking back on my few years at Notre Dame, I am so happy to be able to say that I was a part of the Galvin community. We truly felt like a family, and I am so happy to see us supporting and helping each other with anything and everything. If you guys ever see me around campus, please feel free to say hi or ask me any questions you have! I have been told I look a little unapproachable sometimes but I promise I’m nice, I’m just quiet! :)

Ainee, Bianca, and Mateo attended The Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering Conference, a part of BMES, over the break in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At this conference, they gained insight into the emerging fields in biomolecular engineering ranging from cellular to the tissue level systems of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and emerging technological advancements. Mateo and Ainee had the opportunity to present their current research in the poster presentations.
Additionally, they connected with leading researchers at top institutions across the country and gained insight for next steps as an undergraduate researcher pursuing graduate studies. The insight and guidance received from the conference directly apply to how they shape the end of their undergraduate education and research at ND as they approach senior year.
