Schulich Alumni Spotlight

Umair Pervez (MBA '15) was selected by the World Economic Forum to attend the 2018 Davos meeting, "Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World." He represented the youth voice at Davos, meeting with global leaders and conducting his own workshop around the future of cities. Umair is the Curator of the Calgary Global Shapers hub and is currently a manager at PwC in Calgary. Congratulations to Umair on this outstanding accomplishment, representing youth voices by raising awareness on gender equality, inclusiveness and respect for the environment.

 Team Schulich Wins MBA Games

Team Schulich continued their dominance at the 2018 MBA Games hosted at the Telfer School of Management in Ottawa. For the seventh time in 16 years Schulich finished first overall in the three-day national competition against 600+ graduate students from 17 schools.

Amazing progress underway for the future Rob and Cheryl McEwen Graduate Study & Research Building

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our alumni, students are less than eight months away from experiencing a remarkable new building that will nurture new discovery, thought leadership and reflect Schulich’s commitment to world-class architecture and sustainability.  Embracing Digital Disruption

On January 12th, Dean Horváth welcomed Douglas McCuaig, President, Eastern, Central, Southern Europe & South America at CGI Group Inc. for a special Schulich presentation of CGI's 2017 Clients' Global Insights.  Attendees learned from insights gleaned from in person discussions with more than 1,300 business and IT leaders across 10 industries and 17 countries to identify trends affecting organizations. The end result being an increased push to embrace digital disruption.

Day on Bay

On January 12th, Schulich Finance Association hosted its annual Day on Bay event. Attendees participated in workshops and heard keynotes from speakers including John Ruffolo (BBA 88), CEO, OMERS Ventures, OMERS; Anthony Faiella (MBA ’92), Associate Investment Counsellor, RBC, and; Roman Dubczak (MBA '87), Managing Director & Head, Global Investment Banking, CIBC World Markets. Attendees left the event feeling inspired and informed about the future of banking in business. 

Schulich Real Property Alumni Association Social

On January 25th, the Schulich Real Property Alumni Association (SRPAA) hosted its first social of 2018. Alumni enjoyed discussions on real estate, heard remarks from chapter president Christian Petersen (MBA '13), and networked with chapter executives Patrick dos Santos (MREI ’18), Amanda Irwin (MBA ’16), Eric Midvidy (MBA ’07), Oraska Tam (MBA ’14), Nathan Tracey (MBA ’17), and fellow alumni. A special welcome goes out to the MREI Class of 2018. 

Tech Leader Talk: Workforce Automation - Friend or Foe?

On January 31st, alumni attended a Tech Leader Talk at the Nadal Campus. Attendees participated in discussions on workforce automation, and listened to a panel of practitioners featuring Bowie Cheung, Head of Operations, UberEverything, Mike Couch, CEO and Managing Partner, Couch & Associates, Michael Gardiner (EMBA '11), Director, Industry Strategy, Siemens, and, Professor Eileen Fischer, Anne & Max Tanenbaum Chair in Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise, Schulich School of Business.
