Welcome back to Navigate U Updates!
|
As we close out the second semester of implementation, we reflect on the progress in the development, usage, and enhancement of Navigate U (NavU). As more appointment summaries, referrals, messages, and campaigns are loaded to NavU, the U is gaining a more holistic and comprehensive view of each student's journey and the student experience writ large! We're happy to report that 100% of undergraduate students are now in NavU and 20,000 appointments have been created for over 10,000 unique students.
Here are a few quick updates for users. Below, we share more details on the NavU welcome survey, timeline, Orientation, referrals, messages, and access.
|
- The Navigate U button is now live in CIS for students!
-
The Leave of Absence PeopleSoft indicator is now a category, which is visible on the student profile and searchable in the Advanced Search.
- 100% of current undergraduate students are now in NavU!

Jordan Lane, Academic Advisor in the Kahlert School of Computing, is recognized as an exemplary user of NavU.
Jordan has sent over 2,000 messages to students in NavU and has scheduled appointments for 214 students. Jordan saves appointment summaries for each appointment and makes use of Office Hours and the navigateinfo@utah.edu ticketing system. We are grateful for Jordan's adoption of NavU!
|
| When students download the NavU mobile app, they will be prompted to complete a three-question survey. Based on their response selections, the student will receive a follow-up message with information about a campus resource.
The purpose of this survey is to gain insight into students' goals, inform future programming, and connect them to appropriate resources.

The University of Utah began its partnership with EAB a year ago this month! It has been a successful year of implementation, with both the phased onboarding of units and the phased rollout of features.
|
NavU will be at Orientation!
Thanks to our colleagues in the Office of Orientation and Transition and the advising community, students will hear about Navigate U at several points during New Student Orientation (NSO).
|
- Students participating in Virtual NSO will learn about Navigate U as a way to connect to advising and student services.
-
On Day 1, students will hear about NavU at the Your Degree Pathway session.
- On Day 2 during the First Semester Course Planning session, Academic Advisors will reference NavU as the best way to connect with advising.
|
As you would expect, NavU tracks the email messages that were sent from the NavU and appear in the recipient's Conversations tab. Since we have now enabled Email Capture, replies, follow-up communications, and messages that originated outside of NavU are now captured within the application.
|
MAJOR EXPLORATION REFERRAL |
Working with a student who is Undeclared or wants to explore other majors? Refer them to the Academic Advising Center through NavU. On the student profile, click Issue Alert or Referral and select Referral - Major Exploration. The referred student will receive an email with instructions on how to book an appointment and this referral is trackable through a report.
|
As usage grows, the Navigate U implementation team makes adjustments to role permissions and settings.
Appointment Center
The Advisor role was recently given access to the Appointment Center, which pulls up a scheduling grid and allows for easy scheduling management for a location.
Messaging Campaigns
The Director of Advising role was recently given access to Messaging Campaigns. Similar to Appointment Campaigns, Messaging Campaigns send a message to a specified group of students for a purpose, such as sharing a resource. All Messaging Campaigns must adhere to the guidelines outlined in the User Agreement.

As more users begin using Navigate U, inevitably more questions arise. The Navigate U team is here to help! We offer several channels of support, and more training opportunities are in development.
For technical questions, configuration requests, access issues, or usage questions, email navigateinfo@utah.edu. For questions that are better asked in real time, join our Office Hours on Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. MT and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. MT via Teams.
We are more than happy to meet with your unit to go over settings, provide a training, or consult on how to optimize your usage of the software. Please reach out to maggie.blanton@utah.edu to schedule.
