Dear Student Affairs colleagues,
I hope you had a chance to relax and recharge over Winter Break! I enjoyed spending time with loved ones and reflecting on the incredible wins last semester, including our women's soccer team winning its second-straight national title! Congratulations, Bears!
As we kick off the spring semester, there is so much to look forward to and a few things I would like to mention:

Remind students to reapply to live in Residential Life managed-housing for the upcoming academic year. Applications for rising sophomores are already open. Applications for rising juniors and seniors open February 2.

The Bearprints for Success class is looking for full-time WashU employees to teach in Fall 2026. Help students succeed at WashU and apply to teach the course. Contact Lauren McCoy.
- We are looking for undergraduate student nominations for First-Year or Transfer WashU Student Associates (WUSAs). Nominate a student by February 18.

Well-being Wednesdays begin again on January 21 on Mudd Field, weather permitting. Join our colleagues from across the division in promoting well-being for our students and ourselves with a farmers market and health and wellness campus resources.

The Spring 2026 Career Expo is February 10 from 3-6 p.m. in the Athletic Complex. Encourage students to network with top employers and professional organizations.

I look forward to seeing everyone next Wednesday, January 21 at our monthly divisional meeting. Light refreshments will be available starting at 8 a.m. and the meeting will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. in Risa Commons.

Students can meet their future employer at the Feb. 10 Career Expo
|
The Spring 2026 Career Expo will take place on Feb. 10 from 3-6 p.m. in the Athletic Complex. This premier recruiting event is open to all schools, majors, class levels, alumni, and undergraduate, graduate, PhD, Post Doc, and MBA students.

When Omar Abdelmoity, Ervin Scholar and former resident advisor, learned he wouldn’t advance as a Rhodes Scholar, he didn’t stop there. Just two days later, he interviewed for—and won—the prestigious Marshall Scholarship.
|
|
|
Women's Soccer recently won its second-straight National Championship with a 2-1 win over Emory. This win also marked Coach Conlon's 500th career victory, and the Bears finished the year without a loss at 21-0-3. Congratulations!

Become a Bearprints for Success course instructor |
The division is currently looking for full-time WashU employees to teach Bearprints for Success for Fall 2026. Candidates must have a master’s degree or higher and three years of full-time experience in higher education in Student Affairs or a related field to teach the course. Bearprints for Success is a one-credit, seven-week course designed to help new students make a successful transition to WashU, both academically and personally. The 39th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration honors the legacy of Dr. King and the impact he has made on those who carry the torch for humanity. This year's event, held on Jan. 19, from 2-3:30 p.m. in Graham Chapel, is themed "Striving Toward Change." The community is also invited to participate in a service project from noon until 2 p.m. in Tisch Commons. Volunteers will assemble hygiene kits for children in the Ritenour School District, care packages for those without homes, blankets for area animal shelters, and cards for local senior citizens.

Nominate an undergraduate student to be a First-Year or Transfer WashU Student Associate (WUSA). Ideal candidates are student leaders who are knowledgeable, approachable, dependable and dedicated, and who can serve as orientation leaders and academic peer mentors for first-year and transfer students. The is a paid student leadership position and nominations can remain anonymous. Nominated students are notified upon nomination submission with an encouragement to apply for the role. Applications are open until Feb. 18.

Host a cultural competency workshop for students |
The division offers several workshops that help our students learn important developmental cultural competencies. If you are interested in hosting a workshop open to students, student organizations, or advisory boards consisting of students, you can view workshop topics and request a workshop here.

Mobile mammogram event set for Jan. 21 |
WashU Danforth Workplace Wellness is offering a mobile mammogram event on Jan. 21 from 8 a.m. until noon on Shepley Dr., across from Lien House. Mammograms are available to women age 40 and over. Patients under age 40 must have a provider’s order. Mammograms are available at no cost to patients who qualify. New 24/7 market to open on the South 40 |
A new convenience store is coming to the South 40 using Just Walk Out technology by Amazon. Opening is planned for late Spring 2026. The store will be open 24/7, and a WashU ID will be required for access during certain hours.

Registration is now live for students on all WashU campuses to register and participate in the May Affinity Student Celebrations. Participation in an Affinity Celebration is open to all graduating students from December 2025 and May 2026. Any questions can be directed to the CDI.
