Is your website suddenly showing up lower in Google search results on mobile devices? If your business counts on web traffic as part of your marketing strategy, this is not an issue to be taken lightly.
What Caused this Change in Rankings?
On April 21, 2015, Google made significant changes to their search ranking algorithm, placing a key emphasis on whether or not websites are mobile-friendly. Websites that are mobile-friendly offer a quality experience on all mobile platforms, and they are now being rewarded with higher rankings and a special mobile-friendly tag on Google.
What is a Mobile-Friendly Website?
To be counted as mobile-friendly, your site needs to work well on phones that connect to the Internet. More specifically, text needs to be readable without zooming, the menu system and links need to work consistently and all web software should work on mobile devices. Flash is an example of software to avoid. We recommend responsive websites to all of our clients as they automatically adapt to fit any size screen and device.
