Damiano Zanotto, PI and ME Associate Professor, received an NIH award of $967K for his project “Establishing Walking-related Digital Biomarkers in Rare Childhood Onset Progressive Neuromuscular Disorders” (with Columbia University as prime of a $2.07M R01 grant).

Matthew Libera, PI and CEMS Professor (pictured), and Hongjun Wang, Co-PI, CHI Director and BME Professor, received an NSF award of $795K for their project “Collaborative Research: GCR: Infection-Resisting Resorbable Scaffolds for Engineering Human Tissue.” This is part of a Stevens-led $2.4M multi-institutional team including Binghamton University, City College of New York, Syracuse University, and UPenn Veterinary School.

Jinho Kim, PI and BME Assistant Professor, received an NIH award of $623K for his project “Tissue Engineering Resource Center” (as part of a $6.8M P41 Center Grant in collaboration with Columbia University and Tufts University).

Zhuo Feng, PI and ECE Professor, received an NSF award of $600K for his project “High-Performance Incremental Spectral Algorithms for Efficient Modeling and Simulation of Large-Scale Integrated Circuits.” 

Cheng Chen, PI, CEOE Associate Professor and Nariman Farvardin Professor, received an NSF award of $427K for his project “Impact of Permeability Heterogeneity on Solute Dispersion in Unsaturated Porous Media.”

Shucheng Yu, PI and ECE Associate Professor (pictured), and Min Song, Co-PI, ECE Chair and Professor, received an NSF award of $238K for their project “Exploring Cybersecurity and Privacy Enhancement Techniques for AIoT.” In addition, Yu received an NSF award of $150K for his project “O-RAN-Based Cyberinfrastructure Training for Future-Generation Wireless Communication and Sensing.”

Xiaojiang (James) Du, PI, ECE Professor and Anson Wood Burchard Professor, received an NSF award of $318K for his project “SHF: Small: An Accelerated Computation Architecture for State Transition Representation and Applications.” 

Pin-Kuang Lai, PI and CEMS Assistant Professor, received an NIH award of $191K for his project “Whole-Body-Level Metabolic Flux Quantitation by Machine Learning” (UCLA as prime).

Tegan Brennan, PI and CS Assistant Professor, received an NSF award of $175K for her project "CRII: SaTC: Timing Channels in Adaptive Neural Networks."

Yu Gan, PI and BME Assistant Professor, received a Scialog award of $66K for his project “Closed-loop Hypothesis Generation for Automated Chemical Synthesis.” He also received an NIH award of $17K for his project “Re-examining Links Between Screen Time, Health Behaviors, and Executive Functioning: Validating an Objective Measure of Screen Exposure in a Sample of Young Children” (with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as prime).

Philip Orton, PI, Davidson Lab and CEOE Research Associate Professor, received an NOAA award of $36K for his project “Co-developing a Decision Support Framework for Adaptation to Coastal Flooding: A Comparative Case Study of Communities in New York and Virginia” (with Columbia University as prime).

Gissinger, PI and CEMS Assistant Professor, received a Sandia National Lab award of $20K for his project “A Machine Learning Framework for Predicting Reactivity of Organic Compounds.”

Alexander Ushakov, PI and MS Associate Professor (pictured), and Mahmood Sohrabi, Co-PI and MS Teaching Associate Professor, received an NSF award of $18K for their project “Conference: Groups, Logic, and Computation.”

Jason Rabinovitch, PI and ME Assistant Professor, received a NASA award of $11K for his project “Parachute Modeling” (with Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. as prime).

Sarah Goodman, CEMS Teaching Assistant Professor (pictured), and Emily Atieh, TLC Associate Director for Education Research, won the Best Paper award in the Materials Division, for their work titled "Campus Re-engineered: Tackling Problems Close to Home to Promote Interest in the Field of Materials Science and Engineering for Non-Majors" at the 2024 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference & Exhibition.
