Featuring work by Natalia Arbelaez, Julie Heffernan, Haley Josephs, and Devan Shimoyama, Getting to Know You presents the viewer with a convivial invitation to get to know yourself through the lens of others. Pulling from a well of source material including the art historical, the personal, the mystic, and the pop cultural, these artists approach their work with a mixture of humor, sincerity, and dynamism.

The opening reception will be Friday, November 1 from 6 to 8pm in CIA's Reinberger Gallery. The show will remain on view through December 13.

Call for Scholastic Art + Writing Awards jurors

Each year the Cleveland Institute of Art hosts the Scholastic Art + Writing Awards for the Greater Cleveland area, including Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties. The competition is open to students in grades 7-12 and is an opportunity for them to compete for national recognition, awards, and scholarships in writing and art.

The Office of Continuing Education + Community Outreach at CIA is seeking volunteer jurors to help with the judging process. The review process for art will take place at CIA on Saturday, December 14. If you are interested and available to serve as a juror, please complete this brief online survey so we can keep you in the loop as we get closer to December. Questions can be sent to Julia Murphy, Assistant Director of Continuing Education + Community Outreach at JVMurphy@cia.edu.

CIA is teaming up with FreeWill to offer a free will-planning tool. You can create your full legal will and even choose to include planned gifts to organizations that are important to you. Alumni and friends are welcome to use FreeWill to make their plans. Look for an email with additional details coming soon.
