Happy Fall 2025! We hope you had a great summer and a productive start to the new semester.
Welcome to new and returning members of the LCLC team: Program Assistant Brian Zdancewicz (MA, Central and Eastern European Languages and Literatures) and RAs Nate Cook (Spanish), Ekaterina Petrenko (PRLS), Patrick White (German), and Sam Wadas (Spanish).
Thank you to all volunteers who helped us out at the Fall 2025 Involvement Fair a couple weeks ago and at Sparkfest (formerly called Open House) last Saturday! You and your colleagues talked to hundreds of current UIC students about the wonderful people, programs, and opportunities in LCSL. You may even meet some of them in your classes and at your events in Spring 2026 and beyond! Scroll down to see photos of some of our great volunteers in action.
Language Learning Assistants (LLAs) and peer tutors are back on the job and supporting students in the classroom and in tutoring hours. Thanks to the mentor teachers in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish!
Language events in GH 308 are up and running too! Weekly conversation hours give students an opportunity to practice using the language they study and to get to know the program and people better. Special events like parties, presentations, film screenings, and more are another great way to get your students engaged and involved. If you would like to host an event, email us at lclc@uic.edu and we’ll help you schedule it!
