Dear Student,
We are looking forward to welcoming the class of 2024 and their guests to the Tufts Medford/Somerville campus next weekend on May 18 and May 19. Commencement is a significant milestone in our students’ lives and a time to celebrate their achievements.
To ensure every graduate’s family and loved ones can attend these events and have the best experience possible, we have put some important security precautions in place.
Guest Access Passes or Tufts IDs Are Required
All graduates and their guests as well as faculty, staff, and vendors/contractors will be required to be credentialed and pass through security gates for events at the Gantcher Center and on the Academic Quad (The Green) on Saturday and Sunday. This includes the Baccalaureate, the all-University Phase I ceremony and any Phase II school or departmental ceremonies taking place at these venues.
Faculty, staff, students, and graduates must show a Tufts ID to access these venues. If you need to replace a lost ID, be sure to visit one of the university’s ID pick up locations before Commencement weekend.
Guests of graduates must show a Guest Access Pass to gain access to events. Guest Access Passes can be requested at an information desk or booth near the event entrances. Individual schools will organize additional methods for Guest Access Pass pickup and will communicate those procedures separately with their graduates. Alternatively, guests may ask their graduate for an image of their Tufts ID and show that on their phones or in print.
Additional security measures as well as general information, including directions and parking, can be found on our Commencement website.
We understand that these additional precautions mean that it may take longer to gain admission to the weekend’s events, but they are necessary to ensure everyone’s wellbeing and enjoyment of the celebrations.
We look forward to celebrating with you and sharing this special moment in the university calendar.
With best wishes,
Tufts University Commencement Office
