Student Scholars Day is a student and faculty-run event. In order to have a successful and meaningful Student Scholars Day, more than 100 volunteers are needed to make it happen. Similar to a conference, it is a day that celebrates student research and creative endeavors. Throughout the day, poster presentations, oral presentations, creative displays, and dance performances will showcase the many forms of scholarship that students have done over the course of the year. Please consider volunteering for one or more two-hour time blocks.

Fulbright U.S. Scholar Information Session on February 13, 2025

Are you preparing for an upcoming sabbatical or other form of leave? Join our Fulbright Scholar information session to hear from GVSU colleagues who have been Fulbright Scholars or Fulbright Specialists in the recent past. You'll also meet our campus Fulbright liaison, Dr. Tooley.

Classroom Presentations

There is still time to schedule a classroom visit by ORCI this semester! If you are interested in having a representative from the ORCI and/or the Institutional Review Board (IRB) serve as a guest presenter in your classroom to discuss research ethics/compliance topics (i.e., human subjects research, responsible conduct of research, etc.), please email the ORCI. We will try to accommodate as many requests as possible.

Do You Work With Biohazardous or Potentially Biohazardous Agents?

If yes, an Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) protocol may be required. The IBC oversees work with infectious agents or potentially biologically hazardous materials; recombinant DNA; biological agents listed by the National Institutes of Health in Risk Groups 2, 3, and 4; human and non-human primate tissue and blood; and select agents and toxins identified by the Centers for Disease Control. NEH Humanities Initiatives - Deadline May 6, 2025

Humanities Initiatives grants help strengthen the teaching and study of the humanities at colleges and universities by supporting the development of new or enhancement of existing programs, educational resources, or courses that explore, interpret, and preserve the diversity of human cultures, ideas, and practices, past and present. If you're interested in applying or connecting with other faculty who might develop a proposal, reach out to Marsely Kehoe. Application instructions available Feb. 6th. Deadline May 6, 2025.

Impressive Numbers in the Sponsored Activity Report!

The Office of Sponsored Programs just finalized our report on the first half of the fiscal year (July-Dec. 2024), and we are excited to share with you that GVSU faculty and staff applied for a whopping $32,713,167 of grants and contracts and were awarded $17,421,309. What a great first half of the year! Congratulations to all of our applicants. Save the Date!

On May 13 and 14, 2025, TCO will be hosting an interactive, informative, and educational workshop on Establishing University-Industry Partnerships. This workshop is part of GVSU’s NSF EPIIC award, and includes a $500 participation stipend, and another opportunity for a $500 proposal writing stipend. The workshop will focus on the Why, the What and the How of establishing valuable partnerships to advance faculty research and student engagement. Watch this space for registration information.
