Record crowd at Cleveland's Trunk or Treat
Cleveland’s 8th annual Trunk or Treat brought the community together to offer a special experience for local children. Each year, the Cleveland Pediatrics Club partners with campus staff and student volunteers to plan a safe alternative to Trick or Treat for the city of Warrensville Heights. Children are given trick or treat bags with socks, gloves, toothbrushes and Halloween toys and invited to go from trunk to trunk collecting treats. Forty-four members of our campus and local community signed up to host trunks, which they decorated with fun themes like the Wild West or Candyland, and wore costumes to match. In addition to visiting the trunks, children played games, won prizes, had their faces painted, and took pictures at the photo booth. More than 850 children and their families visited the event this year, the largest crowd in event history. This event is held with the support of the Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital and the City of Warrensville Heights. Members of the campus also donate throughout the month of October to make sure there are enough supplies for the children who visit.

Updated OIT approval process for technology purchases
If you have software (including cloud based online applications) that you would like to purchase, you must first obtain approval from the Office of Information Technology. This approval process has moved from Qualtrics to the new Technology Help Center. The second step of the process is to seek approval from purchasing for any terms of use or contract/agreement that may need to be accepted before the purchase of the software can be made. If you are purchasing software on a university credit card, policy no longer requires you to receive an exception to purchase via a credit card as long as OIT and purchasing contracts have approved it in the steps outlined above. Be sure to attach the approval from both offices to your Concur transaction to document that you had approval to move forward with the purchase.

Switch to Microsoft Azure required for multi-factor authentication
In the coming weeks, OIT will be migrating all Ohio faculty and staff from DUO Mobile to Microsoft Azure for multi-factor authentication. Azure is considered a more secure tool, and pilot users have indicated that it is more user friendly than DUO, allowing for a more convenient password change process. Those who have not yet made the switch, are encouraged to enroll in Azure MFA prior to the final migration date in case there are any technical issues requiring IT support. Any users who do not opt-in to Azure MFA, will be prompted to enroll the first time they attempt to access their OHIO accounts after the migration date. Learn more about how to enroll in Azure MFA.
