| 2021-2023 STRATEGIC PLAN A MID-YEAR UPDATE
|
|
|
I am proud to report that the DRC was recently named one of the top three chambers in the U.S. by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our team of 55 talented and dedicated professionals, whose work in the first half of 2022 is detailed here.
|
We are now in the second year of our three-year strategic plan (2021-2023), “Building Tomorrow Together,” with a focus in four areas: economic development; education and workforce; public policy; and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
|
We work hard every day to make sure the economy of the Dallas Region is strong and growing. We work hard every day to make sure our young people are educated, so they have a good chance for a good job and a good life. We work hard every day with our business leaders and elected officials to make sure our business climate remains strong and welcoming. And we work hard every day to close the opportunity gaps that exist in our community, particularly in education and in the job market.
|
We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside you to continue to make the Dallas Region the best place in the United States for all people to live, work, and do business.
|
I hope you enjoy this mid-year update.
|
Please reach out if we can ever be helpful in any way.

The DRC works closely with our regional and state allies to recruit companies and talent. We focus on companies that bring future technologies and innovation, pay living wages, lift the underserved areas of our region, and make our region a better place for all to live, work, and do business. Here are a few examples of our progress in the first half of 2022:
- Added Caterpillar's Fortune 500 headquarters and locations by Evolve Biologics, MP Materials, Niagara Bottling, and Ruiz Foods
-
Ranked as the top major metro for job recovery with 104.7% of pre-pandemic jobs
- Tracked 32 moves to the region, including 10 headquarters and four in Southern Dallas County

The success of the Dallas Region and Texas are closely tied to the quality of our workforce and talent pipeline — from early childhood education through K-12 and higher education to a living-wage job or career. The DRC is key to the collaboration between the business community, educational institutions, and workforce development organizations to meet the workforce needs of our businesses. Here are a few examples of our progress in the first half of 2022:

As the voice of the business community in the Dallas Region, the DRC connects member companies with key stakeholders and elected officials to advocate for pro-business, pro-growth policies that ensure the continued prosperity of our region while maintaining a high quality of life for all. Here are a few examples of our progress in the first half of 2022:
-
Co-hosted D.C. Fly-In with Fort Worth Chamber, meeting with 20 federal lawmakers and national policy leaders
- Convened 90 member companies to begin formulating the DRC’s 2023 state legislative agenda
- Hosted 15 leaders — state senators, representatives, and other top officials — at DRC events

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION
|
|
|
The DRC works with businesses to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in our community. We work with companies to make local Boards and C-suites more diverse and inclusive; to increase investment in underserved areas; and to build trust between the community and our law enforcement officials. Here are a few examples of our progress in the first half of 2022:
-
Launched SouthernDallasCounty.com to track and bring more economic development, investment, and jobs to Southern Dallas County
- Conducted eight Southern Dallas County Vision Tours, resulting in more than $1.4 million in investments
-
Established department of Inclusion & Community Engagement, aligning community work with our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts

A common thread through each of the four priorities of our strategic plan is our work to enhance the Quality of Life for all who live and work in the Dallas Region. Here are a few examples of our progress in the first half of 2022:
