Campus is buzzing with the return of students and the energy that comes with the start of a new academic year. This fall, Creighton reached a record overall enrollment of 8,948 students and welcomed the third-largest freshman class in University history. As Fr. Hendrickson has emphasized, students choose Creighton because it prepares them for meaningful careers and lives of purpose. Just as importantly, they stay because of the exceptional experience and support they receive. Creighton's first-to-second-year retention rate of 92% continues to far exceed the national average of 82%.

I want to thank everyone in Admissions, Enrollment Management, and the Provost's Office for their outstanding work in helping achieve this milestone. A special thank you goes to Mary Chase, EdD, Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, for her leadership throughout the process. A thriving university creates the foundation for a thriving athletics program, and this achievement strengthens Creighton's future both academically and athletically.

Our fall sports programs are wrapping up non-conference competition and preparing for the start of BIG EAST play. Men's Soccer enters conference action with an impressive 6-0-2 record and looks poised to contend for a conference championship. The Bluejays open BIG EAST competition against Providence tonight at Morrison Stadium.

Volleyball once again challenged itself with one of the nation's toughest non-conference schedules, facing five nationally ranked opponents. This weekend's home matches against Kansas State and Texas A&M are already sold out. Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets. Your energy and support create one of the best home-court advantages in college volleyball.

Women's Soccer begins BIG EAST play later this month and welcomes back sophomore Jalen Chaney following her participation with Mexico's U20 National Team at the FIFA Women's U20 World Cup.

Cross Country enjoyed a strong showing at the Platte River Rumble at Mahoney State Park to kick off Labor Day weekend. Senior Taylor Rorick captured the individual title in dramatic fashion, becoming Creighton's first women's athlete to win a multi-school cross country race since 2017. Both Bluejay teams finished second overall.

Season Tickets on Sale: Mini Plans and Single-Game Tickets Timeline Announced

With the release of the BIG EAST schedules, the 2026-27 men’s and women's basketball schedules are now complete. For the men, season tickets remain available through September 24, and mini-plan packages featuring Nebraska or Gonzaga, along with BIG EAST and non-conference games, will be available beginning September 25.

Demand for games against Nebraska and Gonzaga is expected to be extremely high, and single-game ticket inventory will be limited. The best way to guarantee access is through season tickets or a mini plan. Your support creates an incredible home-court environment at CHI Health Center Omaha and directly contributes to our ability to compete for BIG EAST championships and NCAA Tournament opportunities. Women’s basketball season tickets are also on sale and will remain available until the first regular season home game on November 18. The women have an exciting home schedule so get your tickets now!

Come home to Creighton for Creighton Days, October 2-4, and join fellow Bluejays for a weekend of connection, celebration, and tradition. The weekend features family-friendly activities, campus tours, recreation opportunities, special gatherings, and reunion events designed to bring alumni, families, and friends together. We're especially excited to celebrate milestone reunion classes ending in 1 and 6 and hope to welcome many familiar faces back to campus.

The Protect College Sports Act recently advanced in the Senate, moving one step closer to a final vote. While the legislation continues to gain support, significant debate remains regarding issues such as athlete compensation, transfer regulations, antitrust protections, and national consistency in eligibility rules. 

Regardless of where individuals stand on the legislation, the current landscape continues to generate uncertainty and competitive inequities across college athletics. Long-term stability will require congressional action, collective bargaining, or another national framework that allows institutions and student-athletes to compete under a common, consistent set of rules.

As we move deeper into the fall semester, there is tremendous momentum across Creighton University and Athletics. Record enrollment demonstrates the strength of the Creighton experience, our student-athletes continue to represent the University at the highest levels of competition, and excitement is building around another outstanding year of Bluejay Athletics. At the same time, important conversations surrounding the future of college athletics continue to evolve at the national level.
