MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Dave Dahl
Dave is a lifelong athlete who enjoys any and all sports. It’s not unusual to find him waterskiing one day and climbing mountains the next. And that’s exactly what Dave did the morning of July 31, 2022: He solo-climbed Mount Hood, Oregon’s tallest peak at 11,249 feet. Dave was able to achieve this incredible feat by carefully planning his climb, taking all the necessary safety precautions, and by consistently training for this challenge at AWC Kruse Woods, which Dave says “helps me train for my passions, and stay tuned and ready for any sport.”
A member since last December, Dave is a Project Executive for Pence Construction, which facilitates employee memberships at AWC “because they know it helps keep us healthy, energetic and happy.” Dave likes the convenience of having AWC next door to his office so he can use the gym, locker room and showers either before or after work. And he appreciates the enthusiastic greetings he receives from our friendly team members.
Dave uses just about every type of equipment available at the club. His routine includes a warm-up with bands to get target muscle groups firing. Then he hits the EGYM circuit and free weights before finishing with cardio on the stair climber or rowing machine. Dave cools down with a little myofascial release using foam rollers and stretching.
“I really like my AWC gym,” he said. “I recently traveled to Michigan and tried a (big box) gym. I was not as impressed with their equipment and believe EGYM has given me much better results and feels smoother and more focused on my targeted muscle groups.”
Dave looks forward to the return of massage therapy (so do we!) and soon may add a yoga class to his fitness practice.
