MEET STUDENT ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES
JULY 18, 2017
Hello Tufts Jumbo,
We're introducing  Student Accessibility Services this week. We've also got a new Type About It! video: "Day By Day" is a short documentary about six Tufts students' experiences as artists living with disabilities.

This Week's News and Announcements

How Does Student Accessibility Services Help?

Tufts is proud to welcome students with a variety of backgrounds, interests, and abilities. Student Accessibility Services (SAS) promotes disability as a form of diversity, and their team helps ensure that all students with temporary and permanent disabilities are able to access their academic and co-curricular activities.
SAS is here to help any student who:
  • has a physical, learning, medical, psychiatric, or sensory condition;
  • has been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD);
  • has a mental health condition or chronic health disability;
  • has any other disability that affects one or more major life function.

SAS is located in Dowling Hall, room 720. SMFA students also have staff on site at 230 The Fenway and may contact Lindsay Costa, the SMFA's Academic Resource Advisor, to coordinate resources through the SAS office.
  • Drop by any time 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Call SAS between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday: 617-627-4539.

Type About It!
Response to last week's video, "To This Day" . . . for the bullied and beautiful:
More than anything else, ["To This Day"] really speaks to how acceptance is something that we have to conciously express. Everyone is undergoing a battle, and many times the battle is hidden. All it takes is keeping an eye [out], being aware and not being rash . . . We are supposed to be doing these things from when we are kids, but we do not because we take more for granted than we know. - Anonymous
