Mosaic Lecture: Mobilizing Mathematics for the Fight Against Cancer. Monday March 23, 7 pm, in Loutit 103 (a large lecture hall in Henry Hall). Dr. Jackson will speak about how mathematical oncologists apply mathematical and computational modeling approaches to every aspect of cancer biology, including the use of targeted drug treatment strategies in combination with immunotherapy.

There's an event every Friday at 1 in the PCS! The math department hosts events throughout the semester on Fridays at 1pm in the PCS (MAK A-2-610). Keep this time available so you can attend. Everyone is welcome!

soon! Volunteer at Science Olympiad: Saturday March 21, on the Valley Campus. Science Olympiad is an event that inspires middle- and high-school students to learn about science as they compete. There are volunteer slots open all day! This also counts towards volunteer hours for education majors.

Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education is a 6-week summer program in Budapest, Hungary, where mathematics educators study problem-solving, creativity, and mathematical communication. Designed for pre-service teachers! Applications are due April 1.

Research and travel funding - deadline extended!

Math Student Research and Travel Funding: Deadline extended: Due March 31!
Up to $200 per student is available. Awards can be given for three broad categories: (1) research dissemination, (2) research costs, (3) grad school related expenses (like application costs, or cost of a visit). We may be able to award more than $200 because of additional funds.

University of Wisconsin-Madison has a brand new Masters in Applied & Computational Math. They're still accepting applications on a rolling basis.

soon! Kindschi Fellowship: Applications for Summer 2026 are due this Friday March 20. Provides financial support to students pursuing rigorous, independent scholarship during the academic year, mentored by a faculty member, up to $5000 plus travel and supplies funding. Talk with a mentor soon!
- Conferences! Conferences are a great place to present your work, meet other math students, and get plugged in to the mathematical community. Here are a bunch of conferences that are coming up soon:

- March 27 at 5 pm: Last day to withdraw from a class with a "W" grade.
- April 24: Last day of classes
- April 25 - May 2: Exam week

One important thing to know: Registration is coming!

Registration for next year's classes is opening soon! You should register as soon as you can. Here's a bunch more information about how to register.
Here's a quick reference - this refers to the total number of credits you've earned, including transfer credits and the classes you're in right now:
Senior (85+ credits):
120+ credits: March 24
105-119 credits: March 25
93-104 credits: March 26
85-92 credits: March 27
Junior (55 - 84 credits):
74-84 credits: March 30
62-73 credits: March 31
55-61 credits: April 1
Sophomore (25-54 credits):
41-54 credits: April 2
30-40 credits: April 3
25-29 credits: April 6
Freshman (0-24 credits): April 7
Open Registration: April 8 and beyond. Everyone can add or drop classes during this time.
