We are overjoyed to announce transformative news that will shape St. Mary's Law for generations: The Oatman Hill Foundation has awarded our School of Law an incredible $5 million gift to establish the Bennie W. Bock II Center for Business and Transaction Law. This remarkable contribution opens exciting new horizons for our students and faculty. More details below.
Our students continue to shine as national champions. St. Mary's remains a powerhouse in advocacy and alternative dispute resolution competitions, securing an impressive eight regional and national championships so far this year. These achievements, as well as The St. Mary's Law Journal and The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Race and Social Justice publishing influential legal scholarship with accompanying symposia, showcase the exceptional skills our students develop both inside and outside the classroom.
We're experiencing unprecedented interest in our J.D. program, with applications for Fall 2025 soaring by nearly 500 to a record-breaking 2,715. With only 10% of applicants able to join our incoming class, St. Mary's Law is more competitive and sought-after than ever.
As this Easter season brings its message of hope and new beginnings, I'm filled with gratitude for our exceptional community and the bright future we are building together.
Wishing you and your loved ones peace and joy,
|

Bennie Walter Bock II, a 1968 graduate of St. Mary's Law, left a lasting legacy to his beloved alma mater. His Oatman Hill Foundation awarded a $5 million gift to the School of Law to create the Bennie W. Bock II Center for Business and Transaction Law at St. Mary's Law.
The gift allows the School of Law's education in the intersection of business and the law to flourish to an unprecedented level for future generations of students.

Bock is remembered as a Texas State Representative who later owned and operated many businesses while continuing to practice law in New Braunfels.
