LAST CALL: Symposium Call for Proposals EXTENDED to Jan. 30 |

The Sustainability Leadership Council is seeking submissions for the 7th Annual JHU Sustainability Symposium. The event, which will be held April 8, 2026, will feature dialogue on important sustainability topics through cross-disciplinary presentations, panel discussions, research posters, and tabling opportunities. All JHU faculty, students, and staff are invited to submit presentation ideas.
The submission deadline has been extended to TODAY, Friday, January 30, 2026. Learn more on the symposium web page or email sustainability@jhu.edu. We look forward to your submissions!

Planetary Health Updates from JHIPH & PHA |
|
|
Johns Hopkins Institute for Planetary Health (JHIPH) is launching a new Food Systems Research Hub to accelerate transdisciplinary food-systems and nutrition-focused research that contributes to improving Planetary Health outcomes, joining their existing Air Quality and Infectious Disease Research Hubs. On February 12, join JHIPH for a hands-on, interactive working lunch where participants can directly shape and engage with the work taking form through the Food Systems Hub – learn more and register here.
JHIPH is also partnering with Johns Hopkins University’s 2026 Discovery Awards and 2026 Nexus Awards by offering additional funding for Planetary Health track proposals that seek to address the degradation of Earth’s natural systems and its impacts on human health and well-being. The Planetary Health Alliance (PHA) recently released their "2025 in Review,” highlighting milestones, trends, and the alliance’s growth, as well as a new Three-Year Strategic Plan for 2026-2028.

Spring 2026 Undergraduate Sustainability Case Competition at Penn State
The Smeal Center for the Business of Sustainability at Penn State is now accepting registrations for the Spring 2026 Undergraduate Sustainability Case Competition. This interdisciplinary, team- based competition is open to undergraduate students from colleges and universities beyond Penn State and is designed to engage students in applying business-informed thinking to real-world social and environmental challenges.
