dB Control
On critical missions, troops need high performance to combat increasingly complex threats. For example, radar applications require amplifiers that provide spectral purity and very high stability of the transmitted waveform. That’s where the dB-3840 can help. It’s an outdoor hub-mount Ka-band traveling wave tube amplifier (TWTA) operating at 34.5 to 35.5 GHz, 700 Watts pulsed and 10 percent duty cycle. It can also be custom configured. dB Control recently exhibited this TWTA at the international AOC convention, along with these other high-power products:
  • dB-4127 high-band MPM – 6 to 18 GHz, 200 Watts pulsed/continuous wave, conduction cooled. Applications: electronic countermeasures (ECM), electronic warfare (EW) simulation, ground mobile, airborne platforms
  • dB-4150 smart MPM – 6 to 18 GHz, 100 Watts pulsed/continuous wave, conduction cooled, Ethernet interface, forward/reverse power monitor. Applications: ECM, EW simulation
  • dB-3758 X-band MPM – 1000 Watts pulsed, 9 to 10 GHz, forced-air cooled. Applications: Multi-mode radars, SAR, manned and unmanned platforms
  • dB-2347-01 airborne power supply – 1500 VDC input, 6.4 VDC output @ 68 Amps. Applications: decoy for airborne platforms

After nearly a dozen repeat orders, a global aerospace and defense contractor awarded us a multimillion dollar contract for X-band, pulsed shipboard TWTAs. While we can’t disclose all the details, this is the largest order dB Control received in 2016. The high-power TWTAs must perform flawlessly on the open sea, so we worked tirelessly to ensure they pass harsh environmental testing in the lab.

As the Director of Sales and Marketing, Mike Lee will use his electrical engineering background to match dB Control’s capabilities, products and services with defense contractor’s and OEM’s applications. The position was created for him because he has experience in the TWT amplifier, satellite communications, wireless, RF and microwave industries. Fun fact: while at IBM from 1989 to 1991, Michael received a US Patent for his electrical circuit design.
