Rebecca Koszalinski, assistant professor in the College of Nursing; Anahita Khojandi, assistant professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in the Tickle College of Engineering; and Bruce Ramshaw, a physician and adjunct professor in the Haslam College of Business, recently developed a predictive model to examine that question.

Each spring, a select cohort of faculty are invited to participate in ORE's Proposal Writing Institute in preparation for applying to the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER).

Abnormal behavior of parvalbumin (PV) neurons (in red) in the auditory cortex of the mouse brain manifests as parental neglect. Normal activity of PV neurons depends on the Mecp2 gene, without which female mice can’t learn to respond to distress cries of young pups.
Billy Lau, a postdoctoral researcher in BCMB, examines the time during which an adult female mouse first learns to recognize and respond to the distress cries of young mouse pups. The findings were published earlier this month in the Journal of Neuroscience.

Call for Papers: Fourth Biennial Conference on Disasters, Displacement, and Human Rights

The Disasters, Displacement, and Human Rights program has joined with the Southern Anthropological Society to present a joint conference, serving as the Fourth Biennial Disasters, Displacement, and Human Rights Conference and the 54th Annual Meeting of the Southern Anthropological Society, which will take place April 3- April 5, 2020.
