The Chino Groundwater Basin!
What is that hole in the ground? That's no ordinary hole, it's a
groundwater recharge basin, aka percolation basin. It has a vital role of supplying drinking water for the region by collecting water to refill the groundwater basin using a mix of stormwater, recycled water and imported water.
Here at the Chino Basin Water Conservation District, we manage and maintain a network of recharge basins that capture water to replenish the underground aquifer, known as the Chino Groundwater Basin. This summer the District hosted its first Groundwater Basin & Sustainability Tour with 17 local leaders and community members. Guests were able to visit and learn about our basins, different water sources, and how we work to safeguard local groundwater. The Chino Groundwater Basin serves more than 1 million people and makes up more than half of the drinking water for our area. Learn more and how you can have a positive impact on
What We Do.
